Key Club Awards
Jesuit's Key Club has entered its 13th year since it was re-chartered. Since that time, it has been "Club of the Year" in the Florida District three times and has won first place twice and second place twice at the international level. The club's student leadership has received top awards for 11 of the previous 12 years.
-- JESUIT'S KEY CLUB NAMED DIAMOND CLUB FOR 11TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
June 2010. For the 11th consecutive year, Jesuit's (2009-2010) Key Club has been named a Diamond Key Club by Key Club International. This award recognizes outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to Key Club initiatives. Congratulations to the following officers who were also honored as "Distinguished Club Officers" for the 2009-2010 year: vice president Drew Rey '11, secretary Zach Slagle '11 and treasurer Zach Yanowitz '12.
-- JESUIT'S KEY CLUB WINS 2 TOP AFP SUNCOAST PHILANTHROPIC SERVICE AWARDS!
Nov. 18, 2009. Jesuit's Key Club was named the "Philanthropic Service Youth Organization of the Year" and its 2008-09 president, Thomas Burley '09, received the "Youth in Philanthropy Award" from the Suncoast Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). The awards were presented at the AFP's National Philanthropy Day Luncheon on November 18th at the A La Carte Event Pavilion. Congratulations to all our 2008-2009 Key Club members!
-- JESUIT KEY CLUB WINS FIRST PLACE INTERNATIONAL AWARD!
Summer 2009. Congratulations to our Key Club for winning a first place trophy for our 2008-2009 Habitat for Humanity "Building Nancy's Home" project at the International Kiwanis Convention held in Dallas, Texas this summer. The award recognizes a single outstanding project in the international Platinum Division (clubs with 85+ members from all 30 member countries).
In addition, our club was also honored with a Diamond Distinguished Club award, designating Jesuit's Key Club as one of the top 10% of clubs in the international program.

Our 2008-2009 Key Club president, Thomas Burley, recently receive a $1,000 Kiwanis Key Club Scholarship of eight years of service at the Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center. Congratulations Thomas!
2008-2009 STATE KEY CLUB AWARDS
Congratulations to Florida's Club of the Year -- Jesuit High School's Key Club! Below are the awards our club and individual members received recently at the 71st Annual Florida District Key Club Convention in Orlando:
- "Samuel S. Welker Club of the Year" award
- "Leader of Leaders" award, given to the club in Florida that best exhibits the spirit of service and leadership
- "Diamond Level Distinguished Club award
- 1st Place – Single Service Award, Platinum Level – Habitat for Humanity house building project
- 1st Place – "Every Child a Swimmer" - adaptive sports swimming program
- 2nd Place – Club Project Display (developed by Rene Miller '11 about Buddy Walk)
- 3rd Place -- Overall Service Hours for all clubs in the Florida District
- 3rd Place – Service award for the quality of service performed
CLUB OFFICER AWARDS. Our club officers also received individual awards: Thomas Burley '09, Distinguished President award and the G. Harold Martin Outstanding President award (1 of only 3 in the state); Randy Miller '09, Distinguished Vice President award and the Distinguished Lieutenant Governor award; Rene Miller '11, Distinguished Secretary award; Matt Bonhomme '09, Distinguished Treasurer award; and Elias Inaty '09, Distinguished Editor award.
JAMES FRANCIS PARKER
AWARD FOR SERVICE
On Oct. 11, 2008, Key Club president Thomas Burley '09 was honored at the National Down Syndrome Society's "Buddy Walk" fundraising and awareness event with the first "James Francis Parker Award for Service," which will be awarded annually to the high school student who demonstrates exemplary service for the National Down Syndrome Society. The award is in memory of recently deceased James Parker, who would have been a sophomore at Jesuit this year.
2007-2008 STATE KEY CLUB AWARDS
Our Key Club served and fund-raised for more than 20,000 service hours during the 2007-08 year. Below are the awards our club and individual members received recently at the Florida District Key Club Convention:
- 1st Place – Platinum Club Division (85 or more members) – New Orleans Mission Trip, Fund-raiser, and donations for rebuilding
- 1st Place – Service Hours per Member (171 average service hours per member) – Platinum Club Division
- 2nd Place – Overall Service Hours for all clubs in the Florida District
- 3rd Place – Key Club Poster designed by Chris VanPelt ‘08
- 3rd Place – Project Board designed by Michael Gonzalez ‘08
- 3rd Place – Talent Competition, violin performance
