YEAR of FAITH
Pope Benedict XVI has declared October 11, 2012 - November 24, 2013 the "Year of Faith." This is a time of renewed faith, where Catholics are invited to rediscover the mystery and beauty of their faith. This is also a call for Catholics to deepen their relationship with Christ and his Church.
In response to Pope Benedict's call, Jesuit High School will be providing opportunities for the wider school community to participate. Listed below are some of the initiatives that Jesuit has undertaken or will undertake as part of the Year of Faith.
- On October 11th, a special convocation opening with solemn morning prayer was devoted to the Year of Faith.
- Four large banners in St. Anthony's Chapel have been hung to proudly display imagery in honor of the Year of Faith.
- Alumni guest speakers in convocation have provided powerful and personal testimony to our students and faculty and staff on the importance of practicing their faith in their daily lives.
- On November 20th, Jesuit's first ever Student Prayer Manual was distributed following convocation.
- Special convocations led by student speakers have been devoted to the Year of Faith.
Future plans include;
- The dedication of Sacred Heart Chapel with a private Mass in January
- Offering a weekly Lenten series led by Jesuits for current parents and alumni.
- The opportunity for Jesuits to offer a special blessing of your home.
