  • Jesuit High School’s 2006-2007 basketball and soccer teams were named the recipients of the Florida High School Athletic Association’s 4A Academic Team Champion Award. The state recognition honors teams in each of FHSAA’s 20 sanctioned sports and 11 recognized sports for teamwork, not only in athletic competition, but also in aggregate, unweighted grade point average performance.

This was the first year for FHSAA’s Academic Team Champion Awards Program, which makes Jesuit’s teams the first winners in the 4A basketball and soccer divisions. Congratulations to our basketball and soccer student-athletes and coaches!

  • Congratulations to Athletic Director John Crumbley, who was inducted into The Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in January 2007. Coach Crumbley served 22 years as Jesuit’s head baseball coach, during which the Tigers won two state titles and one national championship.
  • Congratulations to Tommy Wyher ’07, who won two gold medals at the 2006 state swimming meet in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke competitions. Wyher wrapped up his prep career at Jesuit with a total of 16 state medals, of which seven were state titles. Only three other boys in state history have posted more career state titles than Wyher.
  • Congratulations to Hunter Clasen ’07 (cross-country, soccer, track) who was selected as the 2006/07 Hillsborough County Boys Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the St. Petersburg Times. Congratulations also to Jonathan Koscso’07 (baseball) who received honorable mention as part of the 2006-07 Boys All-Academic Team of five Hillsborough County scholar-athletes.
  • Congratulations to Coach Richie Warren ’00, 2007 4A Boys Baseball Coach of the Year.
  • Congratulations to Coach Bill Shaffer, 2006 Boys Swimming Coach of the Year.
