Placement into Sophomore Level Courses as a Freshman
Students taking high school level courses in foreign language and/or math will be given an opportunity to take a placement test to determine if they can progress to the next level of these subjects as they are taught at Jesuit. Since the subject content in these areas can vary greatly, it is necessary to determine that a student will meet with academic success if he advances. These placement tests are graded with the knowledge that the student has not yet completed the course.
Students should study for these placement tests. Placement tests are only given to determine if a student has successfully completed a year of a high school subject.
PLEASE NOTE:
- The placement test score has no bearing on class placement into honors.
- Students may take each placement test only once.
Every student beginning in the typical freshman courses has the opportunity to take all upper level courses regardless of his placement as a freshman. Beyond the freshman year, students are evaluated for placement based on classroom performance and standardized test scores.
